State Minister of Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury on Monday termed India a true friend of Bangladesh.
“India has been a true friend to Bangladesh since the Liberation War. They want to stay with us in every development,” Khalid said during a meeting with Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Verma in his office room.
Verma congratulated the newly formed government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The state minister said: “India wants to work to strengthen bilateral relations. Indian investors are interested in investing in the economic zone developing centring on Payra seaport.”
Khalid said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is moving forward with the friendly diplomatic dictum of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
“Those who were sceptical about the election are now coming forward to work with the new government,” said the state minister.
