Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen has termed Beijing a true friend of Dhaka, emphasizing that the realization of Smart Bangladesh, as part of Bangladesh's Vision 2041, cannot be not be achieved without China.
"China is very willing to participate in it," he said in his speech at the celebration of Huawei's 25 years in Bangladesh on Thursday night in Dhaka.
The event was attended by Planning Minister MA Mannan, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Mustafa Jabbar and Huawei South Asia President Pan Junfeng.
Ambassador Yao Wen pointed out that over the past 25 years, Huawei has witnessed and actively participated in the leapfrog development of the information and communications sector of Bangladesh.
"This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative. With joint efforts from both sides, China and Bangladesh have achieved positive results in the field of information and communications," he added.
