Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen has said interference in the internal affairs of a country is not permissible according to international norms and UN Charter, particularly Article 2 (4), which prohibits the threat or use of force and calls on all members to respect the sovereignty, territorial integrity and political independence of other states.
During a discussion with Local Government and Rural Development Minister Md Tajul Islam on Thursday, Yao Wen praised the economic progress of Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
“China always respects the way Sheikh Hasina is advancing her country against hegemony,” he said.
He added that Bangladesh's progress is an inspiring example for other Asian countries, and as a trusted partner, China wishes to stand by Bangladesh in this advancement.
The Chinese ambassador welcomed Bangladesh's decision to join BRICS, stating that it will further strengthen bilateral relations between Beijing and Dhaka.
