Bangladesh to observe one-day state mourning on Saturday in memory of UAE President

The national flag will be kept at half-mast and special prayers will be offered at all religious institutions

Bangladesh will observe one-day state mourning on Saturday in honour of the United Arab Emirates' (UAE) President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who breathed his last on Friday.

The Cabinet Division issued a notification in this regard in the evening.

The national flag will be kept at half-mast at all government, semi-government and autonomous institutions and educational institutions, and Bangladesh missions abroad in observance of the mourning day.

Special prayers will be offered at all religious institutions on Saturday seeking eternal peace for the departed soul of the UAE president.

Besides, the UAE would observe a 40-day mourning period with flags flown at half-mast as of Friday and suspend work at all public and private sector entities for three days
