The Russian House in Dhaka organized a photo exhibition and a virtual meeting to mark the 193th birth anniversary of the celebrated Russian writer Leo Tolstoy on Thursday.
Members of partner organizations as well as lovers of Russian literature look part in the programs, according to a press release by the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Bangladesh.
Maxim Dobrokhotov, director of the Russian House in Dhaka, spoke in detail about the life and works of Tolstoy, who is regarded as one of the greatest authors of all time.
Dr Abul Kalam Azad, chairman of the Liberation War Academy Trust, also spoke on the occasion, among others.
Tolstoy, best known for his novels “War and Peace” (1869) and “Anna Karenina” (1877), was born to an aristocratic Russian family in 1828.
He received nominations for the Nobel Prize in Literature every year from 1902 to 1906 and for the Nobel Peace Prize in 1901, 1902 and 1909.
He passed away on November 20, 1910 at the age of 82.
