Bangladesh expresses concern over Korean missiles

Update : 06 Jul 2017, 02:55 PM
Bangladesh has expressed concern over the recent launching of ballistic missiles by Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK). “DPRK has violated obligations of Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT), resolutions of the United Nations Security Council, by launching the missiles,” said a press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh on Thursday. As a signatory to the NPT and CTBT, Bangladesh is committed to the international community to avoid the uses of such weapon, the press release said. Bangladesh urged DPRK to refrain from any action that could impact the peace and stability in the region and beyond. On Tuesday, North Korea announced that it successfully tested the new intercontinental ballistic missile under the supervision of leader Kim Jong Un and the missile was capable of hitting anywhere in the world. The Hwasong-14 missile reached an altitude of 2,802km and hit its target precisely after flying for 39 minutes, the North’s state television said.
