PM to attend autism conference in Bhutan April 19-21

Hasina will hold meetings with Bhutan's King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay and discuss bilateral and regional issues, a Foreign Ministry official said. The prime minister's visit will have a focus on cooperation in transit, transhipment and hydro-power, diplomatic sources told the Dhaka Tribune. Saima Wazed Hossain Putul, member of WHO's expert advisory panel on mental health and chairperson of the National Advisory Committee on Autism, has taken initiatives to hold the conference in Thimphu at WHO's request. The conference, titled Autism and Neuro-developmental Disorders, is being organised by the two nation's health ministries with the technical assistance of Shuchona Foundation, Ability Bhutan Society and WHO Southeast Asia regional office. Government leaders, policymakers, experts and activists from around the globe will discuss strategic viewpoints to spread awareness about autism at the conference.
