Tripura CM wants to allow Bangladeshi trucks to deliver directly in Tripura

He urged this via video-conferencing on the sidelines of the official inauguration of the Agartala-Akhaura railway project on Monday

Update : 11 Sep 2018, 10:58 PM

Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb urged Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to launch a direct destination route between Tripura and Bangladesh for ferrying goods.

He urged this via video-conferencing on the sidelines of the official inauguration of the Agartala-Akhaura railway project on Monday.

“Loading and unloading of goods from Bangladesh to Tripura via Akhaura is leading to a hike in prices. Transportation costs would undergo a reduction if Bangladeshi trucks carrying goods are loaded and unloaded on a destination-to-destination basis,” Deb said.

Deb also thanked Modi and Hasina for officially inaugurating the Agartala-Akhaura railway project.

Hasina extended her invitation to the chief minister to visit Bangladesh. Deb responded on a positive note.
