Bangladesh home minister to visit Myanmar

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan is to visit Myanmar this month to talk about the repatriation of the Rohingya who have entered Bangladesh fleeing the violence in Rakhine state. The minister disclosed the matter talking to the reporters at the secretariat on Sunday. He said: “The Rohingya people can be sent back through diplomatic initiatives so I have taken preparation to go there this month."

Kamal said: “At least 80,000 Rohingya have been registered and by the end of the day, the number will stand at 100,000. “If they [Rohingya] are not brought under registration process then we will be deprived of all sorts of facilities.” About the recovery of more arm compared to last year, he said: “Compared to last year, more arms were seized from borders. We will set up scanning machines up at 16 points of the border.” According to UNHCR, 510,000 Rohingya entered Bangladesh since August 25, fleeing the violence in Myanmar.
