Mehdi Hasan Khan and his team, the creators of Avro Keyboard, have been honoured with the Ekushey Padak 2025, the country’s second-highest civilian award, for their contribution to the advancement of Bangla computing.
Chief Adviser Dr Yunus presented the award at a ceremony on Thursday.
First introduced in 2003, Avro Keyboard revolutionized Bangla typing by making it more accessible and user-friendly. The software gained widespread popularity, enabling users to type Bangla phonetically without the need for complex keyboard layouts.
Mehdi Hasan Khan and his team’s innovation has played a pivotal role in the digitization of the Bangla language, empowering millions to communicate online and create content in their native script.
