The 45-year anniversary of Bishwo Shahitto Kendro is being commemorated with the motto “We want enlightened humans.”
Bishwo Shahitto Kendro was founded on December 17, 1978. The organization celebrated its founding anniversary by organizing a daylong program on its premises at Banglamotor.
The celebration of Bishwo Shahitto Kendro's founding anniversary has evolved into an event that aims to encourage reading among people of all ages.
Bishwo Shahitto Kendro is filled with students from elementary schools, colleges, and institutions. Prominent figures in society have also participated in the event.
The main program was held in the Bishwo Shahitto Kendro building auditorium on the second level. Owing to the auditorium's limited capacity, programs are being shown via projectors located throughout the building. The event started at 10am and continued till 10pm.
The visitors who came to the event said that there is no end to the achievements of the 45-year journey of the Bishwo Shahitto Kendro. The role of the institution is unique in spreading the light of education among people. They also hope that this journey on the path of light will continue.
Samina Sejuti, a student at Dhaka University, said that she has had a relationship with the Bishwo Shahitto Kendro since she was in school. She used to read books from the mobile library. After entering the university, the previous relationship remained.
Nirab, a student at Notre Dame College, said that he regularly reads books from the mobile library. This institution has given him the opportunity to read books. There are many students who cannot afford to buy and read all the books. The Bishwo Shahitto Kendro has provided an opportunity to read books for all students, including them.
Ishanul Karim, a student at Dhaka Science College, said that Bishwo Shahitto Kendro is a name of inspiration. His habit of reading books has been developed with the books of Biswa Sahitya Kendra.
The director of Bishwo Shahitto Kendro Mesbah Uddin Ahmed Sumon, said: “We have achieved many things in our 45-year journey. Bishwo Shahitto Kendro today has 3 million family members. This activity of spreading light among people will continue.”
“We will embark on the task of enlightening people. We have our infrastructure and workforce. However, our resources are limited. We'll proceed if it is fulfilled,” he added.
Bishwo Shahitto Kendro is running a country-wide mobile library program, a country-wide mobile book fair program, the Alor Ishkul program, a publishing program, a collection and publishing program of Bengali intellectual works, a cultural program, an online book reading program, Alor Pathshala, and various excellent programs.
