In an effort to lower postpartum hemorrhage and avoid maternal death in Bangladesh, the Directorate General of Family Planning (DGFP), and Partners in Population and Development (PPD) arranged an expert committee meeting on Thursday.

The meeting was held with funding from the Chinese government's South-South Cooperation Assistant Fund at the MCH meeting room of DGFP at 10am, said a press release.

Experts from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the DGFP, and medical practitioners from Manikganj and Gazipur were present.

Dr Nazrul Islam, Senior Program Manager of PPD, gave an update on the status of the SSCAF project.

Senior Program Officer Tahrima Khan hosted the event while Officer-in-Charge of PPD Oliver Zambuko shared his valuable remarks.

The experts spoke on how to use tab misoprostol to minimize postpartum hemorrhage and discussed how to overcome the obstacle of home delivery in Bangladesh to MMR at the local level. Even with the government's vigorous support and initiatives for institutional delivery, over forty percent of deliveries occur at home, they said.
