The Press Wing of Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus has clarified that the head of the interim government himself will officially announce the date for the 13th general election, saying statements by other advisers are their personal opinions.
This information was shared at a press conference held on Sunday at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka.
Present at the press conference were Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam, deputy press secretaries Abul Kalam Azad Mazumder and Apurba Jahangir, and assistant press secretary Shuchismita Tithi.
Addressing a query about an adviser’s remark in London that the election might take place in mid-2026, the Apurba said: “So far, the chief adviser or his office has not announced any election date. The exact date will be announced by the chief adviser. Statements made by others might reflect personal opinions but are not concrete.”
