The security deposit of Trinamool BNP Chairperson Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury in Sylhet-6 (Beanibazar -Golapganj) constituency was forfeited in Sunday’s election.
He got 10,936 votes with the Golden Fibre symbol.
To get back the candidate's deposit, he needed to get 12.5% of the votes cast in a constituency. But in this case, Shamsher Mobin got only 9.37% of the votes.
Candidate and former education minister Nurul Islam Nahid won by getting 57,778 votes in his seat. His nearest rival independent candidate Sarwar Hossain got 39,488 votes in Eagle symbol.
According to the results, 116,702 voters voted in this seat in two upazilas. Shamsher Mobin had to get 14,587 votes to get back the bail but he got 10,936 votes. Three more candidates of this seat have lost their security deposits.
