Anwer Khan Modern Hospital owner Anwer Khan, Awami League candidate for the Lakshmipur-1 (Ramganj) constituency has been served a show cause notice for distributing money to voters openly.
Noakhali Senior Assistant Judge Polash Bardhan, also the chairman of the Election Inquiry Committee for the Luxmipur-1 constituency, served him the show-cause notice on Friday.
The Boat candidate has been asked to appear in person or send a representative to the Lakshmipur District and Sessions Judge court building by 10am on Saturday to give a written explanation as to why the Election Commission should not recommend necessary measures against him.
As per the notification, a complaint was lodged by journalists from print and electronic media to the Assistant Returning Officer (ARO) regarding the uploading of a video on social media showing the distribution of cash. The UNO and ARO gave the chairman of the Election Inquiry Committee a videotape showing the cash distribution.
