Public transport, private cars, and CNG-run auto-rickshaws will be allowed to ply roads on the voting day to facilitate the movement of voters in the 12th parliamentary election, scheduled for January 7.

Public Security Division Senior Secretary Mustafizur Rahman gave the directive at a training program for the executive magistrates at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre on Tuesday.

The senior secretary said: "However, the movement of motorcycles and long-distance buses will be suspended like before. The concerned ministry will issue instructions in this regard soon.”

At the training program, executive magistrates have been instructed to remain alert about various rumors on the voting day.

“Do not make any decision without cross-checking the information first. There will be coordination cells at the central and district levels. Whatever happens, they will have information. Cross-check first and go into action,” the official added.

Mentioning the Press Information Department (PID) and National Telecommunication Monitoring Center (NTMC) teams will be available for executive magistrates’ service, he said: "Our 24/7 teams will work from now to January 10."
