Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said the party has made a seat-sharing agreement with the Jatiya Party (JaPa) for the 12th national parliamentary elections, scheduled for January 7.
“JaPa has its demands, and a specific number of seats are being allotted to them. There will be no boat candidates in those seats,” he made the comments during a press briefing on Sunday afternoon.
“The agreement with the JaPa had been concluded without any unpleasant situation. The finalization of the candidacy will be done by 4pm on Sunday,” he added.
He also addressed the criticisms from the BNP and several other parties who are calling the election a division of power.
Quader also questioned how an election with 28 political parties and nearly 2,200 candidates could be considered divided.
