Two candidates from the Gazipur-3 constituency (Sreepur-Pirujali-Bhawalgarh-Mirzapur) have been served show cause notices for alleged violations of the code of conduct.

The election inquiry committee of the constituency issued separate notices to them on Friday, directing their personal appearance on Sunday or through a representative to provide a written explanation for the alleged code of conduct breaches.

The recipients of the notices are Professor Rumana Ali Tusi, the Awami League-nominated candidate and reserved women parliamentarian, and Muhammad Iqbal Hossain Sabuj, an independent candidate, Gazipur district Awami League general secretary, and the current member of parliament.

The notices, signed by Zakir Hossain, the president of the Gazipur-3 constituency election inquiry committee and senior assistant judge at Gazipur Third Court, said that Professor Rumana Ali conducted a campaign meeting at Dhanua Haji Bazar in Gazipur union on Thursday, violating the code of conduct. Additionally, she has allegedly campaigned in other areas of the constituency in violation of the code.

In the notice to independent candidate Muhammad Iqbal Hossain, it is mentioned that he campaigned in the MC Bazar area of Telihati union in Sreepur upazila at 3pm on the same day, also breaching the code of conduct.

Both candidates, Muhammad Iqbal Hossain or his nominated representative, and Rumana Ali or her nominated representative, have been ordered to appear in person and provide a written explanation to the committee regarding the alleged violations of the code of conduct.

Muhammad Iqbal Hossain is instructed to appear at 12pm on Sunday, while Rumana Ali is directed to appear at 3pm on the same day.
