Ashok Kumar Debnath, additional secretary of the Election Commission (EC) secretariat has said the decision to transfer upazila nirbahi officers (UNOs) and officers-in-charge (OCs) has been made based on field-level data.
Due to their transfer, there will not be any kind of disorder, said the EC additional secretary.
He said this in response to a question from journalists at the Election Commission headquarters at Dhaka’s Agargaon on Saturday afternoon.
Ashok Kumar Debnath said: "The Election Commission is taking measures for the security of all the candidates, including those who have submitted their nomination forms for the national elections."
The Election Commission wants to make major changes in the field administration ahead of the 12th parliamentary election, scheduled for January 7.
As a part of this, the Election Commission has issued separate letters to the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Public Administration and the Ministry of Home Affairs to transfer all the upazila nirbahi officers (UNOs) and officers-in-charge in phases.
