The Election Commission (EC) is holding a meeting with the Commonwealth pre-election assessment mission on Sunday.
The meeting began at the Election Commission headquarters in the capital’s Agargaon at 10am.
Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Kazi Habibul Awal is leading the Election Commission delegation.
The Commonwealth team members are Linford Andrews, adviser and head of the Electoral Support Section (staff team leader), Lindiwe Maleleka, political adviser, Electoral Support Section, Zippy Ojago, executive officer, Electoral Support Section and Sarthak Roy, assistant research officer, Political Division (Asia).
The pre-election assessment team from the Commonwealth arrived in Dhaka on Saturday afternoon to observe the pre-election scenario leading up to the 12th parliamentary election scheduled for January 7, 2024.
Besides, a four-member European Union team will arrive in Dhaka soon to observe the upcoming general elections.
Officials at the Election Commission earlier said the EU observers are likely to reach Bangladesh on November 21. They would stay in Bangladesh for two months.
The EU is not sending a full-fledged election observation team.
