Candidates can spend Tk10 per voter in the 12th parliamentary elections. In this case the total expenditure of a candidate shall not exceed Tk25 lakh.
A notification in this regard signed by EC Secretary Jahangir Alam was issued on Wednesday but was uploaded on the EC website on Thursday evening.
Referring to the provisions of the relevant section of the Representation of the People Order (RPO), it is said: "The election expenses of any contesting candidate shall not exceed Tk25 lakh, including the expenses received from the political party making the nomination."
Referring to the provision of election expenses per voter, the notification said: "The Election Commission has fixed the election expenses per voter in the 12th parliamentary elections at Tk10. Accordingly, the expenditure of the constituencies will not be more than Tk25 lakh."
