The Election Commission is set to complete the drafting of revised guidelines for foreign election observers and journalists by September.
Ashok Kumar Debnath, additional secretary at the EC secretariat, made this announcement following an inter-ministerial meeting held at the commission on Wednesday.
The gathering marked the first meeting between the commission and relevant ministries, focused on reviewing the existing guidelines.
Representatives from the ministries of foreign affairs, home, and information, as well as the National Board of Revenue, were in attendance.
"We will sit again next week," Ashok stated, underscoring the ongoing nature of the discussions.
He also mentioned that he had evaluated the current policy concerning foreign election observers. As of now, no conclusive decisions have been reached regarding potential alterations to the existing policy.
