Seeking votes for Ragebul Ahsan Ripu, the candidate of the Awami League in the by-election to Bogra-4, Awami League Presidium Member Jahangir Kabir Nanak has said by voting for Ripu, 40,000 applicants in Bogra will get access to gas among other benefits.
He said this while speaking as the chief guest at the election rally of Awami League candidate Ragebul Ahsan Ripu at Shaheed Khokon Park in Bogra on Thursday evening.
Nanak said if people vote for boat, the electoral symbol of the Awami League, there will be lots of benefits like further development, airport and economic zones.
He said: "The BNP-Jamaat alliance brutally killed many people by the grenade attack on August 21. People were burnt alive after buses were set ablaze. They killed a policeman by hitting him in the head with a helmet. So the people of Bangladesh will not vote for them.”
Regarding the February 1 by-election, the Awami League leader said: “We did not want this election. But the election has to be held as BNP lawmakers resigned from parliament after taking votes from the people.”
Abdur Rahman, another member of the presidium of the Awami League, said: “The people of Bogra are well organized to help the boat candidate win. They will give an appropriate answer in the February 1 by-election. According to an intelligence report, 67% of the voters of Bogra will vote for boat.”
