Election Commissioner Md Anisur Rahman said that the National Assembly elections will be held by the end of December or the first week of January this year.
He informed this to journalists at Nirbachon Bhaban in Dhaka on Sunday.
The EC said that the work of determining the boundaries of the election area will be finalized within the month of June.
He added: “We expect that the law amendment in this regard will also come from the law ministry in a few days. The law minister said that the work is almost finished and will be sent within a few days.”
The election commissioner further said: “We hope we can complete the border demarcation work by June. We will try to do it within the month of May. I have written to the Bureau of Statistics for the final report of the census.”
