EC monitors District Council polls through CCTV cameras

Balloting for District Council polls in 57 districts began at 9am on Monday

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal and other election commissioners are monitoring the District Council polls across the country on Monday through CCTV cameras at the Election Commission headquarters. 

Balloting for District council polls in 57 districts began at 9am on Monday and will continue till 2pm across Bangladesh.

The voting is being held at 925 booths in 462 centres across the country and 60,866 voters will cast their votes.

There will be no voting in three districts in the Chittagong Hill Tracts while elections in Chapainawabganj and Noakhali have been suspended due to court orders.

This is the second time the District Council polls are being held. The first-ever District Council Polls elections took place on December 28, 2016.
