Case filed over clash between AL men, police in Lakshmipur

Police have filed a case against 24 known and 60 other unknown individuals in connection with the incident

A case has been filed over a clash between Jubo League men and police personnel at the Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital on Wednesday morning.

Police filed a case against 24 known and 60 other unknown individuals in connection with the incident, confirmed Lakshmipur Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Lokman Hossain.

Ten people, including four policemen and a local journalist,were injured in the clash, said Lakshmipur Superintendent of Police ASM Mahtab Uddin.

After the incident, the police had arrested 12 Jubo League men including Jubo League leader Mahbubur Rahman.

According to local sources, a previous enmity between Laharkandi union Awami League General Secretary Fazlur Rahman and Delwar Hossain led to a conflict between the two, in which both were injured and admitted to the Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital.

On receiving information, Jubo League and Awami League activists came to see Fazlur Rahman at the hospital andout of revenge, they attacked Delwar Hossain. Police rushed to the spot to take control of the situation, where a clash between the Jubo League and the police took place.

Lakshmipur sadar police station Sub Inspectors Abdul Alim and Gias Uddin along with police Constable Nayan and Mehedi Hasan were injured in the clash.

The injured were admitted to hospital for treatment.
