The Election Commission (EC) has sought about 1,937 more executive magistrates across the country to discharge duties during the 11th general election.
In a letter sent to the Ministry of Public Administration, the commission put out a list of additional executive magistrates required in eight divisions and asked it to take measures for deployment.
Previously, the commission deployed 1,200 executive magistrates to discharge poll duties.
As per the requisition, 440 more executive magistrates are needed in Dhaka division, 40 in Mymensingh division, 541 in Chittagong division, 102 in Sylhet division, 133 in Rajshahi division, 141 in Barisal division, 319 in Khulna division and 221 executive magistrates are required in Rangpur division.
The election is scheduled to be held on December 30.
