Leaders of Jatiya Oikya Front, a strategic alliance of Gono Forum, BNP and three other parties, have said they are yet to decide on who is going to be the next prime minister if it wins the next general election.
The Oikya Front leaders said they will make the decision at discussions after the election, while answering a question raised by bdnews24.com Editor-In-Chief Toufique Imrose Khalidi during a view exchange session at Hotel Lakeshore in Dhaka on Friday.
Amader Natun Shomoy Editor Naimul Islam Khan addressed reporters after the session.
Quoting Dr Kamal Hossain, Naimul Islam Khan said the majority parties of Oikya Front will sit and take the decision on who will be the prime minister after holding discussions if they come out victorious in the election.
However, Toufique Imrose Khalidi told reporters he did not get any clear answer to his question from the Oikya Front leaders.
Khalidi said he told the Oikya Front leaders that Britain, India and other democratic countries make clear before the election who will be the prime minister, and the alliance should also do so.
The views-exchange meeting between Jatiya Oikya Front leaders and editors of print and online media began around 3:30pm and ended around 5:30pm.
Naimul Islam said the meeting began with the deliberations of Dr Kamal Hossain and BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
In their speeches, they wanted to know what should be done to hold the 11th general elections in a free and fair manner, he said.
The Amader Natun Shomoy editor also said Oikya Front did not reply to his question on how they would celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Bangladesh’s independence and the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 2021 if they win or lose the next election.
They said they would give the reply later, Naimul Islam added
