The dialogue between the Left Democratic Alliance and the government has started at the prime minister's official residence Ganabhaban. The meeting started Tuesday at 7:30pm as per schedule.
Country’s eight left-leaning political parties wrote to the prime minister on Thursday, seeking dialogue ahead of the 11th general election.
The letters signed by the alliance’s coordinator, Saiful Haque, said a 16-member delegation team would like sit in a dialogue with the prime minister upon receiving her consent in this regard.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also the ruling party president, attended the dialogue with the Islamic Democratic Alliance.
The members are: Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) President Mujahidul Islam Selim, General Secretary Md Shah Alam, General Secretary of Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal Khalequzzaman, Central Committee Member Bazlur Rashid Firoz, General Secretary of Bangladesher Biplabi Workers Party Saiful Haque, politburo member Akbar Khan, Member of Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal Shuvrangshu Chakrabarty and Alamgir Hossain Dulal, Chief Coordinator of Gonosanghati Andolon Zunayed Saki, member Firoz Ahmed, general secretary of Bangladesh United Communist League Mosharraf Hossain Nannu, presidium member Abdus Sattar, general secretary of Gonotantrik Biplabi Party Moshrefa Mishu, Central Committee Member Mominur Rahman Bishal, Convener of Bangladesher Samajtantrik Andolon Hamidul Haque and Central Committee member Ranjith Kumar.
The eight party leftist alliance was formed on July 19th this year, ahead of the upcoming general elections.
Awami League-led grand alliance initiated dialogues with other parties aiming to resolve the ongoing political crisis and ensure a peaceful election.
On November 1, the prime minister held a dialogue with Dr Kamal Hossain-led Jatiya Oikya Front, a newly formed political alliance, of which BNP is a key member.
A day later, she held talks with AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury-led Jukto Front, followed by a meeting with Jatiya Party, the opposition in the House, on Monday.
Responding to their request, the prime minister will sit again with Jatiya Oikya Front on Wednesday.
