Chittagong University Teachers’ Association (Cuta) yesterday blamed negligence of Chittagong University authorities for Wednesday’s crude bomb attacks on two teachers’ buses that left 14 people injured.
Over 100 CU teachers held a protest rally in front of the administrative building in the afternoon.
Speakers at the rally raised question about university administration’s role after the bomb attack.
They also put three-point of demands to the CU authorities which are ban on Jamaat-Shibir politics, bearing medical cost of injured teachers and withdrawal of OC Ismail Hossain to his alleged negligence in his duty.
Cuta President Professor Benu Kumar Dey said the CU authority should expel the students, who involved in the heinous attack. He also demanded exemplary punishment of them.
At least 14 people, including 10 teachers, were injured in a crude bomb attack on two Chittagong University buses in the Fatehabad area of the port city's Hathazari upazila on Wednesday morning.
Meanwhile, the university authorities have formed a three-member probe committee to investigate the bomb attack incident while two cases were lodged in connection with the bomb attacks.
Yesterday, police recovered firearms, crude bombs and bomb-making materials from a student mess.
Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury told the Dhaka Tribune that the probe committee, headed by Dean Professor Dr Khan Tawhid Osman of Biological Science Faculty, was asked to submit its report as early as possible.
