The Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) has won the MATE ROV International Underwater Robot Competition 2026, with its student team, MIST MAVIROV, emerging as champion at the event held in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, from June 23 to 27, 2026.
The team, formed by students from the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Communication Engineering (EECE), competed against 77 teams from 16 countries, including the United States, Canada, China, and Saudi Arabia.
During the competition, Team MIST MAVIROV completed a series of mission-based underwater robotics challenges and secured first place through its engineering design and technical performance.
According to MIST, Team MIST MAVIROV has been engaged in underwater robotics research and development for several years.
The institute also acknowledged the contributions of the team's students, faculty members, mentors, sponsors, and partners.
