ULAB hosts UGC-Fulbright Consultation on Internationalisation and Dual Degree Policy Framework

The University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) hosted a high-level consultation session with Dr Grace Mukumpa, Fulbright Specialist and Program Analyst, at the Chancellery Meeting Room on Sunday.

The consultation was organized as part of an initiative of the University Grants Commission (UGC) to develop a National Policy Framework for Joint Partnerships and Dual Degree Programs in higher education.

Professor Shamsad Mortuza, PhD, Vice Chancellor of ULAB, emphasized the university’s ongoing commitment to ensuring a globally competitive academic and research environment.

The meeting was also attended by Professor Jude William Genilo, PhD, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Prof Milan Kumar Bhattacharjee, PhD, Treasurer, Lt Col Md Foyzul Islam (Retd), Registrar, along with deans of various faculties, department heads, and senior administrative officials of the university.

Dr Grace Mukumpa presented the objectives of the UGC initiative and facilitated discussions on dual degree models, credit transfer systems, quality assurance mechanisms, institutional readiness, governance structures, and international collaboration.

Following the consultation with university leadership and academic stakeholders, Dr Mukumpa conducted a focused group discussion with ULAB students to gather their perspectives on internationalisation, global learning opportunities, student mobility, and international higher education partnerships.

During the consultation, ULAB presented its internationalisation initiatives and institutional experiences as a case example, highlighting global partnerships, student mobility programs, and international collaborations.

The consultation provided a valuable platform for dialogue between policymakers, university leaders, academics, administrators, and students, contributing to the ongoing development of a national framework that supports quality international partnerships and strengthens Bangladesh’s higher education sector.
