ULAB celebrates 23rd foundation day with grand festivities, cultural performances

ULAB celebrated its 23rd Foundation Day on Sunday at the ULAB Campus under the theme "Celebrating 23 Years of Building Capability." 

The daylong celebration brought together distinguished guests, faculty members, students, alumni, and members of the ULAB community to mark more than two decades of academic excellence, innovation, creativity, and community engagement.

Throughout the day, the campus featured five interactive zones-Discover, Develop, Demonstrate, Distinguish, and Belong- showcasing ULAB's academic opportunities, experiential learning, student achievements, creativity, and vibrant club activities.

The celebration also featured student capability showcases, global cultural and embassy engagements, the "Ideas of Bangladesh" wall, international partnership exhibitions, Chinese calligraphy by the Confucius Institute, and Japanese cultural activities, including a yukata dress-up and origami workshop hosted by the Japanese Embassy. 

The formal celebration ceremony began at 4pm with the ULAB Theme Song, followed by welcome remarks from Professor Shamsad Mortuza, PhD, vice chancellor of ULAB. 

In his remarks, he highlighted ULAB's 23-year journey and its commitment to quality education, innovation, and building future-ready graduates. A video presentation showcasing the university's achievements and milestones was also screened.

Addressing the gathering, Kazi Anis Ahmed, PhD, president of the ULAB Board of Trustees, emphasized that creativity, independent thinking, and academic excellence remain central to ULAB's founding vision and educational philosophy.

AKM Tareq, deputy managing director of Mutual Trust Bank PLC, joined as the special guest. 

He highlighted the importance of practical skills, leadership, and industry-academia collaboration in preparing graduates for the future. 

Professor Milan Kumar Bhattacharjee, PhD, special advisor to the Board of Trustees and Treasurer of ULAB, highlighted the university's institutional progress, innovation, and future aspirations.

The ceremony also featured a crest handover and the cutting of the 23rd anniversary cake. Professor Dr Jude William R Genilo, pro vice chancellor of ULAB, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the guests, organizers, faculty members, students, alumni, and all contributors to the celebration

The daylong festivities concluded with a grand concert featuring a headline performance by the popular Bangladeshi rock band WARFAZE, bringing the university's 23rd Foundation Day celebration to a vibrant close.
