Govt appoints new chairmen to five education boards and NCTB

The government has appointed new chairmen to five education boards, including the Dhaka Education Board, and also named a new chairman for the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB). The appointments were made through separate notifications issued on Monday by the Secondary and Higher Education Division under the Ministry of Education.

According to the notifications, Prof Farukhe Azam Md Abdus Salam, an economics professor at Government Haji Muhammad Muhsin College in Khulna, has been appointed chairman of the Jessore Education Board, reports Bangla Tribune.

Dr Shamin Ara Chowdhury, who previously served as secretary of the Rajshahi Education Board, has been appointed as its new chairman.
Professor Md Ahsan Parvez of the department of Philosophy at SA Government College, Debidwar, Comilla, has been appointed as the chairman of the Comilla Education Board on deputation.

Professor Mohammad Fakhrul Mawla, vice principal (Accounting) of Chittagong Commerce College, has been appointed chairman of the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB).

In a separate notification, Prof Syed Akhtaruzzaman, a professor of Islamic History and Culture currently serving as an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) attached to the Mymensingh Education Board, has been appointed chairman of the Dhaka Education Board.

Meanwhile, Professor Khandaker Mohammad Sadekur Rahman, secretary of Comilla Education Board, has been appointed chairman of the Madrasa Education Board.
