ULAB marks Earth Day 2026 with three day program

University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) marked Earth Day 2026 with a three-day program from April 20 to April 22, 2026, bringing together students, faculty members and guests for 38 activities on campus.

The celebration featured academic dialogues, industry engagements, student-led initiatives, exhibitions and performances. The event drew senior officials from the Government of Bangladesh, development and research experts, international academics, diplomats and industry leaders.

Notable participants included Mr Ali Ashfaq, FCA former partner, KPMG Bangladesh; Mr Rakibul Hasan, deputy chief conservator of forests (DCCF); Sheikh Rokon, writer and river researcher; Md Shahid Uddin Akbar, CEO of BIID; Dr Zheng Li of East China Normal University; Mr Han Kun, country head, PowerChina Bangladesh; Mr Olle Lundin, head of politics and trade, Swedish Embassy; Sumit Bisarya, head of constitutional governance and rule of law at International IDEA, Stockholm, Sweden; and Ariful Hasan Opu, CEO of e-Soft.

Professor Shamsad Mortuza, vice chancellor of ULAB, said: “Earth Day is not just a symbolic observance, but a call to action. Through this three-day program, we aimed to create meaningful dialogue and inspire our students and community to take responsibility for building a sustainable future.”

Cultural performances and live concerts added vibrancy to the event, fostering awareness, dialogue and community engagement. ULAB said the initiative reaffirmed its commitment to environmental responsibility and a sustainable future.
