IUB signs MoU with Nepal’s Far Western University to enhance academic exchange

Agreement for collaboration, including student mobility programs such as semester abroad, articulation and internships, as well as faculty and staff exchange

Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Far Western University (FWU) in Nepal, aiming to strengthen academic cooperation and facilitate joint initiatives in research, education, and student engagement.

The 5-year MoU was signed on June 23, at Kathmandu, Nepal. IUB Vice Chancellor Prof M Tamim and FWU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Hem Raj Pant signed the MoU on behalf of their respective universities.

Representing IUB at the signing along with the vice chancellor were Dr Kamran ul Baset, Dean of the School of Pharmacy and Public Health; and Prof Dr Md Hafizur Rahman, head of the Department of Environmental Science and Management.

Representing FWU were Prof Dr Binod Lekhak, registrar; Prof Dr Kishan Datta Bhatta, dean of the Faculty of Engineering; Prof Dr Rajendra Prasad Bhatt, dean of the Faculty of Humanities & social science; Associate Prof. Harikrishna Kadayet, member, Executive Council; Assistant Prof Prakash Pant, secretary vice chancellor; Meen Raj Bhatt and Nabin Bahadur Bam, admin staff.

The agreement outlines a broad framework for collaboration, including student mobility programs such as semester abroad, articulation and internships, as well as faculty and staff exchanges. It also opens up opportunities for joint supervision of postgraduate research, co-hosting academic events, and co-publication of scholarly work.

The two institutions have also agreed to promote awareness of each other’s academic programs and explore cultural exchanges to foster mutual understanding.

Implementation of the MoU will be overseen by designated representatives from both sides.
