Professor Dr CR Abrar, the Education Adviser, has urged all concerned not to exert any undue pressure on examinees.
He said that students, guardians and teachers remain under considerable stress during examinations.
Therefore, he earnestly requested everyone to ensure that no additional or unjust pressure is created.
He made these comments on Thursday at 11am, following a visit to the Motijheel Government Boys’ High School examination centre on the first day of the SSC and equivalent examinations.
The adviser said: “The SSC and equivalent examinations have commenced across the country. A total of 2.928 million students are participating in these examinations, being held at 3,815 centres under more than 30,000 institutions. This is a massive undertaking."
He added: "We have endeavoured to carry it out in an orderly and effective manner. We believe this environment will be maintained until the end of the examinations. We hope the examinations will be concluded smoothly.”
In response to a question from journalists, the adviser said: “This matter has certainly been taken into consideration. In the past, question papers have reportedly been leaked from certain sources. We have made efforts to identify and block such sources to prevent any recurrence. So far, no such incident has occurred today (Thursday). We have treated this as a top-priority area and have taken the necessary effective measures accordingly.”
Regarding the spread of rumours on social media about question leaks, the adviser said: “We hope that individuals will refrain from such activities. Regardless of our political beliefs or preferences, we must act in the greater interest of the nation. Examinations are the result of extensive preparation and hold significant emotional weight for students. Both guardians and teachers also experience substantial psychological stress during this period."
He concluded by saying: "I sincerely urge everyone not to create any additional, unwarranted pressure in this context.”
