All political activities at Kuet remain banned, with students facing lifetime expulsion and enrollment cancellation if involved.
Faculty members, officers, and staff are also prohibited from engaging in any political activities.
These decisions were made at the 93rd syndicate meeting of the university on Wednesday.
Kuet’s pro-vice-chancellor, Professor Sheikh Shariful Alam, confirmed the decisions.
Additionally, the syndicate formed a committee to investigate the series of clashes between Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) and leaders of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement over the demand to ban student politics on Tuesday.
A four-member committee, headed by Professor MMA Hashem of the Computer Science and Engineering department, has been instructed to submit its report within three working days.
The meeting also decided that legal action would be taken against outsiders involved in Tuesday’s incident, and the university administration would temporarily expel students found guilty.
The university will bear the medical expenses of injured students and take necessary steps to enhance campus security.
All academic activities will remain suspended until February 28 to ensure students' safety.
Seven academic buildings locked
Meanwhile, students have locked seven academic buildings, including the administrative building at Kuet. Protesting on campus since Wednesday morning, they demanded the resignation of the vice-chancellor and pro-vice-chancellor, along with five other demands.
As a result, no classes or exams were held. When their demands were not met by 1pm, they locked the buildings.
The clashes erupted between JCD members, Anti-Discrimination Student Movement leaders, and other students on Tuesday afternoon over the demand to ban student politics.
The violence, which lasted from noon to evening, resulted in over a hundred injuries. However, no case has been filed regarding the incident yet.
Later at night, a press conference was held at the university’s medical centre, where five demands were presented.
These include issuing an ordinance permanently banning political activities at Kuet with lifetime expulsion for violators, taking legal and disciplinary action against those involved in Tuesday’s clashes, deploying military personnel outside the campus until February 28, covering the medical expenses of injured students, and the resignation of the vice-chancellor, pro-vice-chancellor, and director of student welfare, taking responsibility for their failure.
