Jagannath University (JnU) has decided to abandon the integrated cluster admission tests and return to conducting its own admission test independently.
The decision was made on Monday during an Academic Council meeting chaired by the JnU vice-chancellor.
The matter was confirmed by the university’s acting registrar, Prof Dr Md Sheikh Giash Uddin.
To initiate the admission process, an 11-member committee has been formed, with VC Dr Rezaul Karim as the convener and the registrar as the member secretary.
The registrar stated that a committee has been formed to implement the undergraduate admission test for the 2024-2025 academic year under the university’s own system. The committee will soon begin working on the admission process.
Several members of the Academic Council revealed that the faculty of JnU had been advocating for the university to move away from the cluster system and return to its own method of admission testing. Based on this demand, the council made the decision based on the consensus of the attending members and formed the committee accordingly.
