The first-ever Sirat conference at Jagannath University (JnU) will take place on October 24, with Sheikh Ahmadullah, chairman of the As-Sunnah Foundation, as the chief guest.
Organizing students highlighted the historic nature of the event, saying that this is the first time a Sirat conference is being held at JnU.
Separate seating arrangements have been made for women, and the event is scheduled to start at 3:30pm on Thursday.
Prominent Islamic scholars, including Prof Mokhter Ahmed and Abdul Hai Muhammad Saifullah, will also be present at the conference.
Additionally, the Imam of the JnU Central Mosque, Salah Uddin, and Khatib Hafez Maulana Mufti Amanul Haque of Bahadur Shah Park Jame Mosque will attend the event under the chairmanship of JnU Vice Chancellor Dr Rezaul Karim.
Ahmed Omar, a student from the Islamic History and Culture department, expressed that no Islamic events, including Sirat Mahfil, had been held on the campus for the past 17 years due to the previous government's anti-Islamic stance.
He added that with the support of the current university administration, it has become possible to organize this conference for the first time
