Professor Dr Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan, the newly appointed vice chancellor of Jahangirnagar University, has emphasized that the university's master plan will be developed with input from stakeholders to maintain the campus's natural environment and preserve its biodiversity.
He made this statement during a meeting on Sunday in the vice chancellor's office conference room.
The meeting focused on the activities of the management committee for the maintenance and utilization of the university's waterbodies and biodiversity conservation.
"The natural beauty of the campus has deteriorated due to various reasons, including the filling of natural waterbodies and poor planning of physical infrastructure. Moving forward, the campus must be developed in a well-planned manner with the involvement of all stakeholders," the VC said.
There was a video presentation, which identified 40 waterbodies on the campus and emphasized the importance of drainage systems and bird sanctuary conservation.
