ULAB’s Center for Enterprise and Society (CES) together with ULAB’s Kaleidoscope Club and Theatre Club organized an open air drama titled “Bhashatorko” meaning “Linguistics”.

The drama was written by Zahid Sohag and directed by Sarwar Jahan Upol. “Bhashatorko” explores themes of language, identity and communication by placing characters from different regions speaking their native tongue in the spotlight.

The drama used subtle humour to highlight the issue of language discrimination in our society.

Through this play the students demonstrated a powerful performance with the goal of spreading the message of language diversity and linguistic harmony. Taking place in the outdoor green space of ULAB’s permanent campus in the late afternoon, the drama was designed in a “street play” fashion to reach maximum students in the middle of their everyday activities.

The drama attracted students, faculty and staff who enjoyed the students’ performance and appreciated the message that was delivered.
