CES, ULAB holds leadership talk with Grameenphone CHRO

ULAB’s Center for Enterprise and Society (CES) held a leadership talk with Grameenphone’s Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), Sayeda Tahya Hossain, on Thursday titled “Role of HR in Building and Inclusive Workplace”. 

Md Mushfiqur Rahman, senior manager, Projects and Research, CES, ULAB hosted the podcast. 

The discussion started with Tahya’s professional journey which she began with Nestle where she worked for nine years. Gradually, she transitioned to leadership roles in top national and international companies. 

Speaking of Grameenphone’s working culture, Tahya highlighted the importance of diversity and inclusion within the workplace when it comes to hiring males and females, as well as having a mixture of both young and seasoned employees. She addressed the value that young employees from diverse backgrounds can add for bringing creative and excellent results. 

Tahya spoke about the role that a workplace has on an employee’s mental health and wellbeing, quoting the facilities that Grameenphone offers for their employees. Lastly, she highlighted the importance of enjoying work in order to achieve success in one’s professional life.

Sayeda Tahya Hossain has 26 years of HR experience across multiple industries and companies. Over the span of her career, Tahya has worked in Perfetti Van Melle, BRAC Bangladesh, Citi N.A., Unilever, and Nestle.
