The Jahangirnagar University (JU) first-year honours admission test for the academic session 2022-23 will begin on Thursday.
The test will continue till February 29.
This year, a total of 197,359 admission seekers will contest for only 1,844 seats.
A total of 108 admission seekers will vie for each seat in the first-year honours admission test.
Besides, 50,312 students applied for 446 seats under “A” unit (Mathematical and Physical Sciences Faculty and Institute of Information Technology), 17,654 for 386 seats under “B” unit (Social Sciences Faculty and Law Faculty), 39,738 for 388 seats under “C” unit (Arts and Humanities Faculty and Bangabandhu Institute of Comparative Literature and Culture), 4,210 for 64 seats under “C1” unit (Drama and Dramatics, Fine Arts Department), 12,645 for 200 seats under “E” unit (Business Studies Faculty), and 3,519 for 50 seats under Institute of Business Administration-JU.
The Convenor of admission examination discipline and security committee and university Proctor ASM Feroz-ul-Hasan said: “The committee has already made extensive preparations to maintain the overall law and order situation of the university for the admission test.”
“A 24-hour police patrol has been arranged on the Dhaka-Aricha highway for the safety of the examinees. We are determined to maintain the highest discipline of the university at this time of admission examination,” he said.
Besides, 120 BNCC and Rover Scout members, 150 uniformed armed and plainclothes policemen for security and additional 60 Ansar members will be on duty with the proctorial body at various points of the campus, said the proctor.
These decisions were taken in an emergency meeting of the Admission Test and Disciplinary Committee.
Battery autorickshaws approved by the university authorities will ply from the road adjacent to the Student Hall to Bir Protik Taraman Bibi Hall (Tarzan Point) during the examination period.
No rickshaws will ply from Central Shaheed Minar and Sociology department to Dairy Gate. After Shahid Minar, rickshaws will be able to ply on the road adjacent to the Faculty of Biology and Faculty of Commerce.
Necessary measures have been taken to control the traffic on the Dhaka-Aricha highway near University Main (Dairy Gate), Jaibangla and Bishmail Gate for the admission test.
Close circuit cameras (CCTV) have been kept on at important places of the university during the examination.
The maximum rickshaw fare within the campus has been fixed at Tk20.
