The Barisal education board recorded a 90.18% pass rate in this year's Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and its equivalent examinations.
In the results, announced on Friday, Dhaka saw a pass rate of 77.55%, Rajshahi 87.89%, Comilla 78.42%, Jessore 86.17%, Chittagong 78.29%, Sylhet 76.06%, Dinajpur 76.87% and Mymensingh 85.49%, with the combined pass rate for the nine general education boards coming in at 80.94%.
Meanwhile, the Madrasa education board achieved a 74.7% pass rate and the technical education board 86.35%.
Altogether 80.39% of students who had sat for this year's Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent exams cleared the tests -- 7.05% lower than last year.
The pass rate was 87.44% last year and 93.58% the year before.
Education Minister Dipu Moni handed over the results to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Friday morning.
This year the school-leaving public exams began across the country on April 30 and ended on May 28. Prior to the Covid pandemic, the SSC exams used to start in February.
A total of 2,041,450 students under 11 education boards took the exams.
The exams were held on all subjects but on curtailed syllabuses.
