Due to question paper leak of SSC and equivalent examinations in Kurigram last year, the district administration is on the highest alert to prevent it this time, said Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Saidul Arif.
This year, 22,690 candidates will participate in SSC and equivalent exams in the district.
On April 30, the examination will be held in 46 centres of nine upazilas of the district. This information is known from the source of education and welfare branch of the district administration.
Pointing out that the district administration has taken more precautionary measures this year to prevent question leak, the deputy commissioner said: “Already instructions have been given to those concerned with the examination.”
In 2022, on the exam day of the second paper of the SSC exam, the question paper was leaked at the Nehal Uddin Pilot Girls High School centre of Bhurungamari upazila.
The Dinajpur Education Board had changed the examination date of four subjects and cancelled the question papers of six subjects due to evidence of question leak. Later, the board announced the new dates for conducting the exam after changing the questions.
Sources from the education and welfare wing of the district administration said that this year 20,779 students will participate in the SSC examination and 1,911 students will participate in the vocational and entry level exams. Out of this, SSC examination will be held in 34 centres of nine upazilas of the district and vocational and submission examination will be held in 12 centres.
Among the centres, maximum candidates (1,774) will give exams in Shimulbari Miapara Nazimuddin High School in Phulbari upazila, 1,074 candidates in Kurigram Government High School for Girls and 678 students will take the exam in Nehal Uddin Pilot Girls High School Centre where question paper was leaked last year.
Sources said the district administration is on maximum alert this year because of the question leak last year.
For that purpose, all the upazila nirbahi officers of the district have been instructed to take maximum precautions. Police activity and intelligence surveillance have been increased. Every step from sorting the question paper to taking it to the centre has been carefully guided.
The district administration has directed the concerned upazila nirbahi officers to ensure the presence of tag officers at each centre.
Superintendent of Police Al Asad Md Mahfuzul Islam said that apart from regular surveillance by the district police, there is intelligence surveillance.
He said: “Cyber patrolling will be conducted along with regular surveillance. Police headquarters, range police and district police will do all kinds of surveillance to prevent question leak.”
Meanwhile, the district administration has issued Section 144 within 200 yards of the centre for all other than the examinees, examinees, officials, inspection team members and members of the law enforcement force from 30 minutes before the commencement of the examination till the end.
Besides, any kind of procession, meeting and use of any sound device within 400 yards of the centre has been declared prohibited.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Saidul Arif said: “In the core meeting related to law and order, maximum precautions have been given regarding the upcoming SSC examination. We are more cautious than ever. The district administration has made all preparations to complete this exam properly.”
