Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni on Monday said that learning method has changed in the new curriculum, moving away from memorizing.
She made the remark at the 10 Years Celebration and Alumni Induction organized by Teach for Bangladesh.
The minister said that the conventional education system does not encourage students to question. However, the new curriculum has brought changes and transformed the way of learning.
However, she said that implementing the new curriculum came with various challenges.
She said: "It is inspiring to see the young generation of Bangladesh step into leadership and choose to dedicate time, energy and focus on their long-term professional careers.”
Dhaka TribuneThe minister also pointed out the achievements of Teach for Bangladesh. “Since 2012, Teach for Bangladesh has recruited, trained and developed our nation's emerging leaders as skilled teachers ensuring quality learning opportunity for children in vulnerable communities,” she added.
She also said: “We are proud of the incredible academic outcomes of girls throughout our system.”
US Ambassador to Bangladesh HE Peter Haas said that Teach for Bangladesh access to training on digital literacy, social entrepreneurship, and innovative teaching strategies in the classroom. “We are proud to be a partner of their entire journey,” he added.
The envoy said the story of Teach for Bangladesh is not one of US government's involvement. Instead, it is the story of ideas and dreams, and power of people to people engagement.
Wendy Kopp, CEO and co-founder of Teach for All, Imran Rahman, board chair of Teach for Bangladesh, among others, were present in the event.
