Coaching centres to remain closed for 21 days ahead of SSC exams

Some 20,21,868 students are expected to take the SSC and equivalent exams this year

Update : 05 Sep 2022, 02:05 PM

All coaching centres in Bangladesh will remain closed from September 12 to October 2, ahead of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations, Education Minister Dipu Moni has said.

The decision was taken to create a fair, plagiarism-free, and positive environment for the SSC examinees, she said at a press briefing at the Secretariat on Monday.

Meanwhile, the government has decided that examinations will no longer be postponed across Bangladesh due to natural disasters, instead only in disaster-affected areas.

Earlier, SSC and equivalent exams were postponed due to floods in Sylhet and the northern regions of Bangladesh.

Although the exams were originally scheduled to begin on June 19, they will now take place on September 15 instead.

Besides, the examinations will begin at 11am instead of 10am considering the traffic jam, she told reporters.

Some 20,21,868 students are expected to take the SSC and equivalent exams this year while last year this number was 22,43,254. The number of candidates has decreased by 2,21,386.

About 15,99,711 candidates will sit for the SSC exam under nine general education boards, 2,68,495 for Dakhil exams under Madrasa Education Board and 1,53,662 for vocational exam under Bangladesh Technical Education Board this year, the minister said.

Some 3,790 centers have been prepared for the SSC exams across the country.
