A total of 20,21,006 students are taking part in this year's SSC and equivalent examinations, which is 2, 21,037 less than 2021.
However, after the outbreak of Covid, 22,27,113 candidates took part in SSC examinations last year in a short syllabus; which was 1,79,334 more than the previous year.
Education Minister Dipu Moni confirmed the matter after a law and order meeting on the SSC exam in Dhaka on Sunday.
According to the Minister of Education, the number of examination centres has increased even though the number of candidates has decreased this year.
This year the test will be held in a total of 3,790 centres which is 111 more than in 2021.
Dipu Moni said that the number of educational institutions has also increased by 556 as compared to last year. “Students from a total of 29,591 institutions will take part in SSC and equivalent examinations this year.”
She added that the SSC and equivalent examinations will start on June 19.
Among total candidates, 10,09,511 are male students and 10,12,357 are female students.
As many as 15,99,711 students are taking part in the SSC examination in nine general education boards this time. Besides, 2,68,000 will take part in Dakhil and 1,53,662 students will take part in the SSC (Vocational) examinations.
A total of 36 SSC candidates are taking part in eight centres abroad.
