Dipu Moni: Educational institutions to reopen this month

Education Ministry is likely to make a decision on the matter Wednesday

Update : 17 Feb 2022, 10:08 PM

The educational institutions of the country will be reopened in February, Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni has said.

“We have a meeting with the National Technical Advisory Committee (NTAC) on Covid-19 tonight (Wednesday). We will make a decision after analyzing the Covid situation,” she told reporters after attending an event at the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Wednesday.

“We will talk with the prime minister regarding this issue,” the minister added.

She said that everyone must maintain all the safety protocols to stem the spread of Covid infections.

The government suspended in-person classes at universities, colleges and schools on January 21 in the wake of a rapid surge in Covid cases. Restrictions were also imposed on the number of people working at offices and factories.

Dipu Moni said that the number of classes and school days would be decided taking the pandemic situation into consideration.

“Classes will start normally as soon as the situation becomes normal,” she added.

The minister said that the curriculum would be prepared in a way so that the “students inculcate the spirit of Liberation War, focus on science and technology, and become adept with skills that would help them in every sector of life”.

Addressing the students who have passed the HSC exams, Dipu Moni said that there would be no problem in the admission process since the number of available seats in the universities and the university colleges were more than the students who passed.

She expressed her hope that many of those students would be educated in technical education, and would get good jobs at home and abroad.
